Popism

Popism is finding pleasure wherever you can and being honest about where you find it.

Popism is about eliminating barriers to pleasure.

Popism is not needing your judgment to stand forever.

Popism is being able to laugh at yourself.

Popism is never being guilty about pleasure.

Popism is finding what is neglected or scorned and seeing what value can be derived from it.

Popism is looking at what is widely accepted or loved and seeing what additional value can be extracted from it.

PINK Podcast #16

We already played this Lindstrom song over a month ago, but it was hidden at the end of a difficult show and we've recently come to appreciate the track as more than just another throwaway electro-house number- that it's one of the finest examples of the genre.

Walking home yesterday evening, heard someone in a third floor flat playing the new Rachel Stevens record for the whole street to hear. Can now feel justified in playing so many of her tracks recently!

(00:00) 1. Cat Power - The Greatest
(03:16) 2. Lindstrom - I Feel Space
(10:12) 3. Rachel Stevens - Dumb Dumb
(13:47) 4. Ladytron - International Dateline
(17:58) 5. Annie - Always Too Late (YES Productions mix)
(20:50) 6. The Chap - I Am Oozing Emotion
(23:11) 7. Freeform Five - No More Conversations (Richard X mix)
(29:24) 8. Bertine Zetlitz - Fake Your Beauty
(32:29) 9. Pleasure - All I Want
(34:48) 10. Felix Da Housecat - What Does It Feel (Royksopp mix)

PINK Podcast #15

so theres this bird, alexis, and she gone done wrote these songs, still standing for kylie (me fucken ringtone - the alexis version) and nothing good about this goodbye for rachel stevens, and they got me mighty impressed and here i think is this here's a british electro pop princess so i get some songs from her record, cocoon, and i'm saying to myself what is this MOR shit? but i listen some more and there is still something in her songs, hints of glitch done mellow you know not very edgy but pleasant like. so she's playing at this club literally yards from me house, in the middle of chav-ville, it used to be a working mens club and i'm sure it's nice and all but my only memory of it is finding safety under it's lights and the taxi drivers around after being followed and given some verbal by a group of adolescent boys (12 at night walking home from a friend's gig portobello rd). even though i might still go see her there & buy her record tomorrow.

I don't do enough fact checking

and I shouldn't work on assumptions from filenames when downloading music off the interweb!

From bitchpork:

"Robyn Carlsson gets confused with Robin S of "Show Me Love" fame. (Not helped by the fact that she also had a U.S. top 10 called "Show Me Love.") But she's best known for "Do You Know (What It Takes)", which also went top 10 over here in that late-90s moment when anything with a fake r&b beat and a sunshine attitude charted as a welcome relief from, like, the Toadies and stuff."
